Timeout App, The Hidden Opponent, The Dinner Party, and Retreat Candle Co. Partner to create Unite Our Light (UOL), a Virtual Athlete Mental Health Awareness Event

[Louisville, KY]: The Timeout App, Retreat CandleCo, The Hidden Opponent and The Dinner Party today announce their collaboration with Unite Our Light (UOL) in a virtual event in order to create conversations around mental health awareness and suicide prevention for athletes. This free event will take place Sunday, March 27th at 8:00 pm EST.

During the event, discussions surrounding mental health challenges that the athlete community face will be the main discussion, featuring 3 roundtable discussions with an amazing group of athletes, health care providers & educators and coaches. The event will be wrapped up with a community candle light experience. During the event, expo booths from each partner will be available, alongside a resources booth designed and curated by Resilience Rally. Raffle prize winners will be announced during the event. The raffle will include a chance to win swag bags from the UOL team, participation in an exclusive Q&A conversation with surprise athletes, and a 1on1 call with Victoria Garrick. Only candle purchasers and event attendees will be eligible for raffle prizes.

“In light of the recent loss of Stanford soccer player Katie Meyer, conversations surrounding athlete mental health and suicide prevention are proving to be more and more important every day,” says Mikaela Brewer, Founder of Unite Our Light. “We are honored to have the support of so many amazing organizations as we bring together the athlete community to have extremely important conversations.”

Now, and during the UOL event, candles with athlete-produced artwork as the labels will be available for purchase, designed by Trevor Stanback and Billy Rogers. Net profit made from these items will be donated to The Hidden Opponent and The Dinner Party. With the momentum of over 2,000 dollars in sales already, Unite Our Light has a goal to raise 10,000 dollars total for these organizations.

“Unite Our Light has such a special mission,” says Maya McClendon, CEO and Founder of Timeout App, “We are so honored to partner with all of these organizations that share a similar passion for athletes and are bringing awareness to such a powerful cause.”

This event is open to all current and former athletes, anyone who works in athletics, or anyone who has a general passion and interest in this subject.

Here’s how you can join us:

About Unite Our Light:

Unite Our Light’s mission is to highlight the diversity of mental health experiences of athletes. They believe we can’t fully be together in this without recognizing and sitting with the expansive details of individual stories. They envision creating a space for all members of the athlete community to feel (and via their candle, physically hold) grief, loss, struggle, and light. UOL is raising money and building awareness for athlete mental health. Each candle is custom-scented with athlete-produced artwork as the label. All net proceeds from candle sales will be donated.

About The Dinner Party:
